CHAIRPERSONS INTRODUCTION
Heather Eyre Welcomes you to the Craven Water-Rats Sub-Aqua
Club Home Page
The Diving Club SAA 560: was originally formed
in 1987 and it was then called WYNEL Sub-Aqua Club and
was known throughout the SAA
for the high quality of training and safety provided. Late last
year (1999) after many happy years diving and training, the last
of the founder members decided that it was time to take a well-earned
rest from the dedication and commitment needed to run an active
dive club. Now taking a back seat as an honouree member. The
club decided it was time to update its image with a name change,
a new logo, a new venue -www.tarnhouse.co.uk
- and lots of new ideas combined with tried and tested training
methods to make the sport of Scuba as safe and enjoyable as possible,
also trying to incorporate a full social calendar.
WYNEL was re-born into
Craven Water-Rats Sub-Aqua Club in January 2000. The club is
still small but we now aim to continue with our hard earned reputation
as an excellent cost effective "training and
diving club". Within the first few months of reorganising
the club's structure we completed a 12 week training course for
6 new divers, managed a weekend trip to Loch Fyne and planned
trips for days in St.Abbs/Eyemouth, a weekend trip in September
to the Fame Islands, and towards the end of the year a weekend
trip to Oban, as well as the usual outings to Capernwray Quarry,
Dostill , Devils Bridge, Hodge Close and Wast Water. We
are also planning club trips to the Mediterranean and the Red
Sea in the future.

Training & Meetings
Our club meetings take on various formats and occur at various
locations. In general we meet on Sunday nights for pool training
sessions and lectures with the new recruits. On training nights
we arrive at the pool about 5.30pm and finish the session about
6.30pm. When the training is over we retire to the pub!

WEBSITE BACKGROUND
This site, first published to the web in July 2000, is still
very much in its infancy. It came about because of two brothers,
Tim & Dave Hasney. The first is the Diving Officer of The
Craven Water Rats Sub-Aqua club and the latter, who has always
had an interest in diving but only recently qualified (with an
organisation other than the SAA),
spends hours in front of a PC, both as part of his work and for
pleasure, a bit of an 'anorak' really!
Since taking a course as part of an Open
University Information Technology MSc degree a few years
ago, Dave developed an interest in web page building. After Tim
saw his brother's personal website he asked him if he would be
prepared to build something for the Water Rats and this is it.
After nearly forty years of only really having the fact they
are brothers in common, Tim & Dave now have both Diving and
Computers, it will seam strange they have something to talk about
after all this time!
Dave does not profess to be any sort of HTML expert however,
apart from this site, Dave also maintains his own personal website,
Castle
Hooch and The
Dolphin Scuba Team site for a dive operator in Turkey! We
hope you enjoy what you find here and if nothing else, you agree
that giving the Craven Water Rats an Internet presence has been
a worthwhile venture... |
